For three days Parafilms & Jean-Marc Abela have  been participating in the Planet in Focus festival, in Toronto. Through Pitches, panels,  interesting conversations and screenings we’ve enjoyed this exciting environnemental film festival. Sunday, at the  closing event the exciting news was announced : our upcoming series, The Soil Chronicles won the Green Pitch. A 35000$ prize in services and cash to help kickstart and post-produce our project. It is a true pleasure to have been part of the 17th edition of the festival and to rediscover Toronto through it’s islands.

The adventure started last winter when Jean-Marc Abela and Noé Sardet won the Seed grant, offered by USC Canada to produce a short film: The Story of Lucio. The PIF2016 Festival premiered it and gave us a chance to participate in their filmmakers program. The film was paired with Seeds : The untold story a magnificent film by Taggart Siegel and Jon Betz.

After years of documenting marine plankton, with The plankton Chronicles, this is the true beginning for our new venture from sea to soil. This seed money will help us to work with scientists, farmers, environmentalists to magnify the mysteries of soil Biology.
